Step 1. Available Data Sources. Select one or more data sources to query:
Fetch Sequence(s)
If you know the GI/accession number of the sequence(s) you want to retrieve, use the Fetch Sequence Records tool. Retrieved records will display on the Extracts page.
Step 2. Query Form. Select a search field and enter a search term.
Press Add Search Line to combine search terms with AND, OR, AND NOT. Query examples.
To search through all of a data source's text for the words "heat shock factor" (when only EMBL is selected)
All Text = heat shock factor
To search for records with a match for the organism Gallus Gallus and a match for the definition "cdh19" (when all Nucleotide Sequence Databases are selected)
Click Add Search Line. In the search line that appears, select AND.
Organism = Gallus Gallus
AND Definition = cdh19
To search for records between sequence length 500 and sequence length 600 (when only NCBI GenBank Protein is selected)
Click Add Search Line. In the search line that appears, select AND.
Length > 500
AND Length < 600
Use wildcard searches to broaden a search. To do this, type at least three letters of the word followed by an asterisk. For example:
Definition = myb*
Would find myb, myb3, myb12, mybst1, and so on.
